Under the Rubber Cultivation and Related Training Programs implemented by the Rubber Development Department under the guidance of the Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure, a training program to provide introductory knowledge on the Export Crops Module for students pursuing the Higher National Diploma in Agricultural Production Technology at Embilipitiya Technical College was conducted on 23.12.2025 at the Middeniya Government Rubber Plant Nursery.
There are practical activities on the topics of transplanting a rubber plant, using rain cover for rubber, producing rubber sheets, and growing additional crops along with rubber cultivation.
The resource contribution for this was made by the Nursery Manager, Senior Rubber Development Officer Wasantha Liyanage.

As another phase of the Farmer Group Establishment Program implemented by the Rubber Development Department under the guidance of the Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure, a training program for farmer leaders in Matara and Hambantota districts was held at the Kamburupitiya Sub-Office on 24.12.2025.
Leaders of farmer groups belonging to the Katuwana, Suriyawewa and Walasmulla Rubber Development Officer Divisions of Hambantota district and the Kamburupitiya, Malimbada, Mulatiyana, Akuressa and Pitabeddara Rubber Development Officer Divisions of Matara district were invited to participate in this program, where they were given special awareness on the basic facts related to rubber cultivation as well as the "Rubber Land Mapping Program".
Rubber Development Officers from Matara and Hambantota districts participated in this training program, which was held under the guidance of Ms. D.S. Withanage, Director of the Galle Regional Office of the Rubber Development Department, with the resources of Ms. Nishamani Palihawadana, Senior Rubber Development Officer, Matara-Hambantota.

 

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure, a training program for farmer leaders was held at the Galle Divisional Office on 17.12.2025 as another phase of the farmer group establishment program implemented by the Rubber Development Department under the guidance of the Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure.
Leaders of 8 farmer groups belonging to the Rubber Development Officer Divisions of Baddegama, Elpitiya, Pitigala and Thawalama in the Galle District were invited to participate in this program and they were given special awareness on the basic issues related to rubber cultivation as well as the "Rubber Land Mapping Program".
The training program was conducted under the guidance of the Director of the Galle Regional Office of the Rubber Development Department, Mrs. D.S. Withanage, with the resources of the Senior Rubber Development Officer, Galle, Mr. Sunanda Rajapaksa. The Galle District Rubber Development Officers, Mr. K.W.S.D. Jinarathana and Mr. P.G.A.I. Kulathilaka, also participated in this training program.
